Alfa Romeo Shifts Gears to Become Stake F1 Team
Sauber-owned F1 squad Alfa Romeo has unveiled a new identity Stake F1 Team for the upcoming 2024 F1 season.
The team’s official name change stemmed from its F1 partnership title deal with betting and entertainment brand Stake in 2023. The agreement will extend through the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
The squad has also revealed plans to launch its 2024 F1 car in London on February 5.
Last season represented the start of Stake’s journey in Formula One, and the brand’s new role headlining Stake F1 Team represents the natural and exciting next step on this path. Stake not only successfully tapped into Formula One’s growing fan base to enhance its own community; but also introduced a completely new audience to the sport, something that benefitted not only our team but also everyone else in F1.
Additionally, Stake's streaming service, Kick, secured the Sauber Motorsport chassis naming rights and established an Alfa Romeo F1 Team Kick Esports squad for the 2023-2024 F1 Sim Racing World Championship.
We are thrilled with the opportunity to bring an electrifying and brand-new identity into our Formula One team, kickstarting the F1 season with a bold team name, Stake F1 Team. Fuelled by deep passion for speed, innovation, and pushing boundaries, we are now ideally positioned to take the team to unprecedented heights from 2024 and beyond.
Audi Takeover
The two-year deal will be succeeded by the F1 team’s transformation as part of the Audi Group in 2026. The German car maker is in the process of acquiring the racing outfit before entering F1 as a manufacturer in 2006 with its team and engine.
At the beginning of 2023, the group purchased a minority stake in the team and plans to increase its ownership to 50% and eventually to 75% within the coming years.
