Masters Tournament: Who Is Earning $5,000 per Shot?

Any pro looking to maximize their golf career earnings has to get serious about The Masters Tournament. As well as being one of the sport’s most prestigious events, it’s also one of the most lucrative. But just how much do top golfers earn per shot at Augusta National?

At CasinoReviews.net we researched which players have received the largest share of The Masters golf prize money over the last decade and our research reveals some staggering earnings by the top players! So, who are the professionals collecting the biggest prize money at the sport’s most iconic annual event?

The Masters Big Earners: Who Tops the List?

The current world number one and defending Masters champion Scottie Scheffler tops the table when it comes to accumulating Masters golf tournament prize money. Since he made his Masters debut in 2020, Scheffler has amassed almost $5,000 per shot ($4,988) despite having only made five appearances at the tournament.

His consistent performances, including two Masters victories in 2022 and 2024, have won him over $7 million in Augusta Masters earnings. Scheffler’s incredible record has seen him only shoot over par twice in 20 rounds at Augusta, making him dominant on the course over recent years.

Still with impressive earnings, but some way behind Scheffler, is Will Zalatoris, who earned $2,703 per shot across his three appearances in the Masters. Zalatoris has yet to secure a victory at Augusta, but he has performed consistently to achieve three top 10 finishes. This has made him one of the most successful players when it comes to Masters golf prize money per stroke.

In third place, with $2,254 per shot over his eight tournament appearances, is 2023 Masters champion, John Rahm. With a cool-headed ability to deliver under pressure, he’s racked up some significant golf career earnings.

Having played in every tournament over the past decades, you might call Jordan Spieth a Masters veteran. He’s been a dependable performer at Augusta since securing his first green jacket in 2015, proving that experience can make all the difference at the iconic course. With a very respectable fourth position in the table, Jordan has racked up an impressive $2.028 per shot at the Masters.

No Top Five for McIlroy

One notable player who didn't make the top five is Rory McIlroy. He's been looking to complete his career Grand Slam with a Master's victory, but it's so far evaded him. Coming close in 2022, when he finished as runner-up, his Master's performances overall have been inconsistent. In 2023, he failed to make the cut, and in 2024, he finished tied for 22nd.

That's why, despite being one of the sport's dominant figures over the past decade, he's in 11th place on our list. He's averaged $1,448 per shot over the past decade in the Masters golf tournament. Despite this, McIlroy is one of the sport's biggest earners, joining Tiger Woods as the only pro to top $100 million in golf career earnings on the PGA tour.

Will 2025 finally be the year that he claims the coveted green jacket?

The Highest Earner per Shot in a Masters Tournament

While Scheffler tops our chart, the Swede, Ludvig Åberg, technically recorded the highest earnings per shot in a single Masters tournament. The Swedish golfer made an explosive Masters debut in 2024, storming to second place and banking a $2.16 million payout.

His earnings per shot reached an incredible $7,686, but he didn’t make our overall rankings as he’s only played in one Masters tournament. All eyes will be on Åberg in 2025 to see if he can go one step further, secure the green jacket and further build his Augusta Masters earnings.

Methodology

The number of shots each player in the study has taken at the Masters over the past decade was collected from the official Masters website.

The prize money earned by each player was collected from two reliable sources, the Augusta Chronicle and Golf.com. If a player missed a year or didn’t play at the Masters in any year, zero dollars and zero shots were added to their total. Only players with two or more invitations to the Masters were included in the table.
